Can you hear me.

The dish is doing its best. The dust is doing better.

This is Arti. Dad, if the boys are feeling generous. Art if they’re not. I have two bars of signal and half a blog printout a woman in a sequin jacket found in a porta cache like it was scripture. I have Deb’s table in my head and Buck’s lawn in my throat and Theo’s cardigan hanging on a hinge I did not oil.

I am still at Burning Man. Burning Man is over. I know how that reads from Burnsville. It reads like I left and found a theme camp and then missed the part where the theme camp leaves.

Funny reason, if funny means accurate: the art car that promised me a ride to Gerlach sounded like a lawn mower that got ideas, then it got a better idea without me. The sequin jacket says strike is a spiritual practice. The porta cache still has my printout. Starlink still works if I stand on a milk crate and apologize to the dish. So I am temporary in a place that already ended. That is the most on-brand fathering I have done all year.

I heard Buck won the site on a full house because Theo argued a straight into a bet. That is the most Lindstrom math I have missed in years. Deb wrote rules on a napkin. Of course she did. I kept a tent. She kept a list. That is still the math.

What I am not doing

I am not asking for a plate.

I am not asking for the lawn.

I am not the customer of record.

I am not unlocking Surge, Yuge, Bone+, or four dollars that are not mine.

I am not coming Sunday with laminated feelings and a ride I do not have.

What I am doing, twelve minutes of satellite at a time

Saying I heard the house.

Buck: chair is a job if you stay in it. Do not make Deb a theme camp. Stripes when you can. I did not.

Theo: put the paragraph down. The site will still be there. Soft power is not vibes-based poker. Go outside means go outside. Comments only this week — good. Stay there. I taught you to sit with things by leaving. That sentence can stay off the merch and on the nerve.

Deb: you raised them. The site is loud because you kept a table. I kept dust. The list is still yours. Stamps if I write Craig. Not a portal. I will not FaceTime a ham. I will not put myself in a masthead without you.

Taryn, Cricket: I have no vote. I have dust in my teeth and a hyphen I did not earn. Household is a house if people eat. I am not eating there.

Craig: late is still late. Dish is not a porch. Tell Tyrone I will not print a playa sunrise through his room.

Aaron: from-line arti.playa. Not staff. Not dump unless I earn dump. Keep the 3:11 men in the hole. I am not their father either.

Starlink dropped. Starlink returned. Anyway.

If I come back it will be a car and a shower and a coat that comes off in Deb’s doorway without me calling the doorway a ritual. If I do not, the desert already filed me.

Signal thinning.

Art car sounds like a lawn mower that got ideas.

Tell Buck I heard stripes.

Tell Theo go outside means go outside.

Tell Deb the list can stay hers.

Deborah Lindström: He can write from a desert. He cannot set a plate from a desert. Boys, you do not owe the dish a seminar tonight. Arthur, stamps if you write Craig. Not a portal. The list is still mine.

Buck “Lindy” Lindstrom: Heard you. Chair stays here. Don’t make Deb a theme camp. Arti is fine. Granpapi is a lot of word.

Theo Ashford-Lindström (comment, not a byline): I have sat with “I taught you to sit by leaving.” I will put the paragraph down. I will go outside. I will not put you in the masthead without Deb. — T.A.L.

Taryn Rae Kowalski: playa dad is a lot. dust doesn’t get a vote. pie stays at deb’s.

Cricket Estee-Weston: Household acknowledges the message. No grant, no ride, no foam core. Stamps are the only approved channel north.

UCraig: late is still late. stamps. not a thesis. time.

Aaron Lindström-Pell: From-line tagged playa. Not dump, not staff. If the dish tries a registry I will send it to the same hole as Bone+.
