I WON THE SITE WITH A FULL HOUSE | Anyway —

Theo,

Saturday night. Deb’s kitchen table. Cards. Pretzels. One bottle of something brown that was not supposed to be part of the family compact.

I flipped a full house. You flipped a straight — not a flush, not a miracle, a straight — and then you started lecturing the table about which hand “felt stronger.” Soft power as a rules dispute. Deb said look it up. You bet the site for a week if you were wrong. You were wrong. Full house beats a straight. Mom confiscated the chips before you could appeal to the group text.

House rules, as Deb wrote them on a napkin and made both of us initial:

  • Buck runs thetheolowgen.com for one week starting Sunday — Theo’s stake, Theo’s bad ranking.
  • Deb gets at least two posts. Non-negotiable. She did not raise two islands and she did not raise a poker table either, but here we are.
  • Theo may comment. He may not byline. Mom said a byline after betting the blog on hand rankings looks “performative.”
  • Real news still has to show up. Deb’s words: “I will not host a blog that is only lawn opinions and cardigans.”
  • Friday night the keys come back unless somebody invents a new game. Do not invent a new game.

So this week you get me saying what everyone in the group chat is thinking, Mom running the Montessori politburo in public, and you lurking in the comments like a man who lost a website arguing that a straight outranks a full house.

I am not soft. I am the new interim publisher. Fill the ballot. Mow the lawn. And stay out of the byline box until next Sunday.

Anyway — Buck “Lindy” Lindstrom, contributing brother / temporary site boss / still banned from Deb’s bar cart

Comment (Theo, not a byline — Mom’s rule): He had the full house. I had the straight. Soft power is not vibes-based poker. Soft power is surviving a week of Buck without deleting the RSS feed. Fill the coffee. Then the ballot. — T.A.L.
