ANNIHILATE OR A DEAL | Trump threatens Iran at the UN, then confirms three-hour talks — Buck on soft power, hard chairs, and who pays the gas

Editorial still-life: striped cloth, empty chair, UNGA Iran file folder stamped ANNIHILATE? and TALK on a desk — no real-person likenesses.

Tuesday afternoon. Chair out. Stripes on. The UN did Arctic paperwork this morning. Now it’s Iran again — loud talk upstairs, a three-hour meeting downstairs. Theo stays in the comments where Mom put him.

On September 22, 2026, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, President Donald Trump told world leaders he faces a “big decision”: whether a deal will be made with Iran that lets them rebuild “a far greater country than it ever was before,” or whether he will “annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly” — including, in his words, driving them “into hell.” BBC News and ABC News quote the speech. All but one member of Iran’s delegation walked out during the address, according to BBC and AFP/France 24.

Hours later the tone shifted. Trump told reporters that U.S. and Iranian officials had met on the sidelines for about three hours — a meeting he called “very good” and “very productive,” with another session scheduled “in the very near future.” The Washington Post reported the rare three-hour New York meeting as aimed at ending the war between the two countries. BBC said Iran’s state TV confirmed that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff. AFP/France 24 and Anadolu Agency also name Jared Kushner among the U.S. side Trump pointed to when asked who attended.

Context, short sentences: The conflict has run nearly seven months since U.S. and Israeli military action in February, per BBC and AFP reporting. Oil prices spiked; Trump’s approval took a hit. He has repeatedly threatened renewed strikes, then pulled back toward talks. In the UN speech he said he believed a deal would come right after November’s midterm elections. Soft power is not a slogan filter on a threat. Soft power is reading both the walkout and the three-hour stamp on the same day.

I am not Theo. I do not sit with the hell rhetoric until the china rattles. Fill the ballot. Mow the lawn. If the republic needs a deal or a strike, put the facts in writing and stop pretending a press huddle is a vibe. Person in a chair. Twins incoming. Gas still costs what it costs. News still comes first on this temporary site.

Soft power is not a threat sandwich with a three-hour meeting for dessert. Put the hell rhetoric down. Sit with the sources. Go outside after comments.

Threats are not a guest list. Notice still matters. Keep the china quiet and the news primary. Buck — shorter sentences; the twins will teach you volume control.

Pie is pie. Annihilate-or-deal is not pie. Three hours is a start. Chair can wait. Ballots and gas prices cannot.

From-lines checked. Surge/Yuge still dumped. UNGA Iran talks are not a vault SKU. Approve the sources; black-hole the Bone+ spam.

Stamps not portals. Late is late. Use your words then go outside. A meeting is a stamp. Soft power is not a portal. That is the whole common-room rule.
