Thursday afternoon. Tyrone’s timing me. Keep it short. Theo stays in the comments.
The U.S. Senate on September 24, 2026, voted 50 to 49 to reject a Democratic-led war powers resolution seeking to halt Trump’s Iran military action until Congress authorizes hostilities, per Reuters. The measure had passed the House in July. The tally was largely party-line. Four Republicans voted yes: Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rand Paul (Kentucky), and Thom Tillis (N.C.). Democrat John Fetterman voted against, per AP via WISH-TV.
AP notes this was the 14th time the Senate has considered a war powers resolution since Trump launched the conflict on February 28. It comes days after Trump’s U.N. address threatening to “annihilate” Iran, with diesel topping about $6 a gallon (AAA via AP). Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) pushed the resolution forward. War powers resolutions are political statements; as resolutions, they do not go to the president’s desk.
Congress stamp fails again. Late is late on authorization. A resolution that never reaches the desk is not a ceasefire stamp. Stamps not portals. Use your words, then go outside.
